Home » Culion Town Site Seeing

For nearly a century, Culion – once widely known as the “Land of the Living Dead” – became the final destination for thousands of Leprosy victims throughout the Philippines.

With the arrival of newly developed treatments in 1947, the number of disease victims was dramatically curtailed. Finally, in 1992, the Leprosy was eradicated from Culion and the entire island finally became available for general settlement.

After leaving Sangat at 9am, we’ll dock at Culion Town approximately one hour later. Sights to explore upon our arrival include La Immaculada Church (constructed in 1740 and then rebuilt by the Jesuits in 1930), the ruins of centuries-old Fort Culion, a historical museum tour, and more.

This can either be a half day or full day tour including refreshments and lunch. Return to Sangat will be at 1pm or 5pm as required.
