FREQUENT QUESTIONS: INDIGENOUS WILDLIFE

Shown below are responses to one or more frequently asked questions about indigenous wildlife on and around Sangat Island. If you don’t find an answer to your question below – or within other sections of our website – please feel free to send us an email by clicking here.

Q ) Are they any particularly dangerous insects, animals or marine life that I should be concerned about during my visit to Sangat?
A ) We have the usual varieties of stinging insects, poisonous aquatic species and jelly fish which are endemic to this region but – in our opinion – none are particularly aggressive or fatal.
An obvious, common sense approach to this concern would be to avoid touching any land or marine-based animal you are not familiar with and to always be cautious and aware of your surroundings when venturing into the water while barefoot.
